Duane Kinner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems in 1999 from Gallaudet University. He is currently pursuing ASLTA certification. He taught as an ASL lab tutor and adjunct ASL instructor at SLCC before becoming a full-time instructor in 2002. Duane is a trainer for the Utah Interpreter Program. He is also a language mentor for interpreters at Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind Duane has the rare distinction of being raised in a Deaf family and having two Deaf children.

Connie has been the ASL/Interpreting department coordinator since August 2003. She joined SLCC�s full-time faculty in August 2002. She has been nationally certified interpreter since 1991 through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and holds both Certifications of Interpreting (CI) and Transliterating (CT). She currently serves as the Local Testing Administrator/Coordinator for RID�s certification testing Supersite located in Salt Lake City in a collaborative effort with UIP and SLCC.
Prior to coming to Salt Lake Community College, Connie worked for 10+ years in Washington D.C. as a certified interpreter, working in a variety of situations and settings. Her favorite setting/situation was theatrical interpreting and she interpreted over 50+ plays while in Washington D.C. metro area.
Connie possesses a Master of Science degree from Western Maryland College (2002) in Bi-lingual Bi-Cultural Deaf Education, is a member of Utah RID, Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT), ASLTA and is the mother of 4 children, including a Deaf teenager.

Kristi earned her BA degree in ASL Studies, and Master’s degree in Linguistics from Gallaudet University. She joined the SLCC full-time faculty in August 2008. She has held the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) Qualified certificate since 1998. Prior to coming to SLCC, she taught ASL courses at different colleges and universities for fourteen years, including several years at Gallaudet University. For her MA degree, she researched numeral incorporation in Japanese Sign Language as well as the regional differences in mouthing between Northern and Southern Black Deaf ASL signers. As a research assistant for a linguistics professor at Gallaudet, she was involved in research on the phonology of first language (L1) acquisition of ASL by deaf and hearing children, specialized in eliciting and transcribing the children’s ASL. Her main research interests are in the sociolinguistics of Deaf communities, and second language (L2) acquisition of ASL. She is planning to do research on the linguistics of Slovak Sign Language, in the Slovak Republic, and planning to publish her work in numeral incorporation in Japanese Sign Language in the very near future.

Emily earned an Associate of Arts degree in ASL/Interpreting (SLCC), and additionally,
possesses a B.S. degree in Education with minor in Deaf Education and a Master's degree in Educational Technology from Utah State University. Her teaching experience includes four
year classroom teaching in the Jordan School District, 1999 to 2003, and as an ITP lab tutor & instructor, 2004 to present, at Salt Lake Community College. Emily interprets at SLCC and in the community.

Michelle is a graduate of Salt Lake Community College's Interpreter Training Program and additionally possesses a degree in Math Education from Utah State University. In 2005, Michelle spent the summer teaching at a school for deaf children in Ghana, Africa. She enjoys teaching and works as a video relay interpreter.

Eric Lynn earned Associate of Arts degree in 1988 and is currently working towards a B.A. degree from the University of Utah with an emphasis in Teaching American Sign Language. Eric possesses an American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) Certification.
He has 11 years of classroom teaching experience at Community Colleges located in California, Kansas, and Utah. The past eight years have been at Salt Lake Community College as the ASL Lab Coordinator and an ASL Adjunct Instructor. He was honored as SLCC�s Club Advisor of the Year 2004-2005, for advising the ASL Club. Eric is involved with the Utah Interpreter Program (UIP) and serves as the Vice-Chair for UIP on the Utah Certification Board. In addition to all of this he is an ASL Language Mentor for the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind. Eric is married to a Deaf wife and has 2 children.

Amy Spendlove graduated from SLCC in 2000 with an Associate of Arts in American Sign Language Interpreting. She has worked as a freelance, educational and video relay interpreter since then. Her passions include mentoring other interpreters, advancing the profession and raising three awesome future terps. She currently holds a Utah Professional Certification and working on NIC Certification.
Clint Behunin graduated in 2006 from Utah Valley University with a B.A. in Integrated Studies with emphasis in ASL and English. He has worked as an interpreter for 8 years in a variety of settings. He currently works full time for Brigham Young University as the Staff Interpreter and Assistant Coordinator for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. In addition to interpreting, Clint works as an adjunct faculty member at both SLCC and BYU teaching interpreting and ASL. He currently holds both Utah Intermediate Certification and RID CI/CT.
