Drew Robinson

#10 Drew Robinson

" Drew should be a major contributor this season, he can play both the point and off guard position. He really understands what we want and how we play." Coach Parrish

Freshmen Year: Drew played in 24 games for Salt Lake. He had the second best free throw percentage on the team with .826. Robinson hit 19 of 23 free throws. Drew also had 21 defensive rebounds in 24 games.

Personal: Son of David and Dianna Robinson. He is majoring in history and he hopes to become a doctor after basketball. One of Drew's biggest accomplishments was being The Western Region Punt, Pass, and Kick Champion when he was eight years old. Drew was one of two players on the team to be awarded Academic All-American last season with a 3.53 GPA, and he hopes to be awarded that honor again this season. When not playing ball, he enjoys hunting.

Personal Advice for freshmen: "Work hard and keep your mouth shut."

Emery Davis

#11 Davis Emery

Davis is an outstanding shooter, he has a bright future. As Davis gets bigger and stronger I think he will have a major role in our success." Coach Parrish

High School: While playing at Viewmont, Davis was selected to the 1st team All-Region and 1st team All-State his junior year. During his senior year, he was selected to 2nd team All-State. His team placed 2nd in Region One.

Personal: Son of Jeff and Barbara Emery.  Jeff Emery played basketball at Utah Tech.  He hopes to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher while at SLCC and he wants to win the SWAC conference this year. Davis stated that his biggest accomplishment has been receiving a full ride scholarship. When not playing basketball, he likes to listen to music, and go see movies with friends.

Personal Motto: "Quiters never win, winners never quit."

Dathan Lyles

#12 Dathan Lyles

"Dathan had a great freshman season and we expect even more out of him this season. He has all the attributes needed to be one of the best point guards in the league."  Coach Parrish

 Freshman Year: Dathan Lyles averaged 12.4 points a game in the 2006-2007 season. He was 32 of 84 from the three point line with a .381 percentage. Dathan redshirted last season, and looks to continue his success this season.

Personal: Son of David and Lenar Lyles. He hopes to make money playing basketball in the NBA or he wants to use one of his two majors of communications and sociology to make money. Dathan has nine brothers and sisters all of whom have their first name starting with the letter D. One of his brothers played basketball in college.

When not playing basketball, he loves to talk and hang out with his big family. He hopes to have a big impact on the team, and he looks for the Bruins to be the NJCAA National Champions this season.

Personal motto: "I pray that my future is better than my past!"

Personal advice for the freshmen: Don't skip class.

Ben Walker

 #15 Ben Walker

"Ben transferred from the Air Force Academy. He is a very versatile player who can help us in a number of ways. Since he is fresh off a mission, he needs to get his legs back and he will be a good addition to our team." Coach Parrish

High School: Lehi

Transferred from: Air Force Academy

Personal: Son of Raymond and Claire Walker. His major is psychology and he hopes to become a counselor after basketball. Ben wants to maintain a 4.0 GPA while at SLCC.

Personal Motto: Do your best.

Conor VanBrocklin

#20 Connor VanBrocklin

"Connor was one of the best shooters in the state last year. We expect the same from him this year as he continues to develop the rest of his game he will be a very good player." Coach Parrish

High School: While playing at Davis High, he participated in football and basketball. Connor was selected on the 1st team All-Region, 1st team All State, 1st team All-Area in basketball and he was selected on the 2nd team All-Region team in football.

Personal: Son of Todd and Allyson Van Brocklin. His brother Brody played for SLCC and Coach Parrish and then he went on to play two years at Weber State. Connor�s goal is play for a Division I school and complete his LDS Mission. Connor wants to maintain a 3.4 GPA or better. When not playing basketball, he enjoys playing X Box 360, listening to music and hanging out with his friends.

Why SLCC? "I like the coaches and I wanted to play for this program."

Logan Magnusson

#22 Logan Magnusson 

"Logan is a great addition to our team, he will contribute in a variety of ways. He will be asked to guard all positions and play multiple positions on the offensive end."  Coach Parrish

High School: Wasatch where his team was back-to-back State Champions.

Transferred from: Dixie State

Personal:  Son of Lonnie and Lori Magnusson. Logan wants to be a basketball coach as his career aspiration.  Logan's two brother's Lance and Luke played basketball at Snow College. One of his biggest accomplishments was going on his LDS Mission. His goal is to maintain a 3.5 GPA both semesters this year. Logan picked SLCC because of he liked how the athletic department stressed academic success.

Personal Motto: Be a better you.

Advice for freshmen: Focus on your school work and work your butt off in practice.

John Pressley

#23 John Pressley

"The sky is the limit for John; he is very strong and athletic. He has the potential to be an outstanding player. John should really help us at the 2+3 positions." Coach Parrish

High School: While at Manhattan Center, he not only played basketball but also ran cross country as well. He lettered all four years in basketball, and was named the team MVP.

Personal: Son of John and Kimerly Pressley. He hopes to make it to the NBA in his future.  John's biggest accomplishment is that he got recruited to play basketball in college. When not playing basketball he likes to play games and hang out with his friends.

Why SLCC? I got recruited to play here.

Rick Schoff

#30 Ricky Shoff

"Hopefully our team will take on the personality of Rick, he is tough and he is a winner! He needs to contribute in a variety of areas for us to be successful."  Coach Parrish

High School: American Fork.

Transferred from: Dixie State where he was awarded Defensive Player of the Year.

Personal: Son of Carl and Mary Ann Shoff. Carl played basketball at Ricks College, and his brother played basketball at BYU. Ricky is majoring in business, which he hopes to use to become an entrepreneur. He wants to obtain his Associates Degree in Business and be an Academic All-American. Ricky has a twin brother who goes to a different college. When not playing basketball he likes to wakeboard, and he does things with his family and friends.

Personal Motto: Always do the best that I can.

Personal advice for the freshmen: Don't be cocky about yourselves.

Nate Bendall

#33 Nate Bendall

"Nate should be one of the better post players in our league. He is very skilled and strong. Nate has a great work ethic and he will be a major force on the team."  Coach Parrish

High School:  Skyline

Transferred from: Utah State University

Personal: Son of Coy and Lisa Bendell. He loves playing against Kael and Drew in practice. Nate hopes to be awarded Academic All-American this season. One of Nate�s hobbies includes collecting model trains.

Personal Motto: If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

What do you like about the program: SLCC has great coaches, a classy basketball program and it's very competitive.

Kael Pope

#35 Kael Pope

"Kael is a returning starter, he is extremely physical and he really values the ball. His toughness is contagious and he is an important to our success."  Coach Parrish

Freshman Year: Kael played in 36 games last season where he had 128 total rebounds. He had the second highest number of offensive rebounds with 53 and he had 75 defensive rebounds. Kael also had 15 blocks for the Bruins.

Personal: Son of Clayton and Marilyn Pope. After he is done playing ball, he hopes to be a family and relationship therapist. Kael's major is Family and Human Studies. Playing basketball with Nate Bendall is one of his favorite things. He chose SLCC for the good coaching.

Why he likes the program? : I like how SLCC basketball is a winning program.

Personal advice for freshmen: Do well.

 

Krispin Banks #40 Krispin Banks
"Krispin is a very skilled big man; he has great hands and a very soft shot.  As he continues to develop and get in shape he could be an outstanding player."  Coach Parrish

High School: While playing at Squalium High, he played football, track and basketball. He was awarded most improved player by his team every year, and he received the hardest worker award his junior and senior years.

Personal: Son of Christine Quinn. He is majoring in Business and he hopes to either be a business owner, or become a teacher. Krispin hopes this is the year the Bruins win a national championship. Two of his goals include graduating with a degree and receiving a scholarship to a Division I school after he is done playing for the Bruins. When Krispin is not playing, he likes to sing and spend time with his sunshine.

Why SLCC? I like that it is close to home.

DJ Wright

#44 DJ Wright

"DJ has the potential to be an all league player. He can play a variety of positions and really contribute in almost every statistical category." Coach Parrish

High School: While playing at Toronto Academy Prep., (TAPS) he also played football. He was awarded team MVP. DJ played with fellow Bruin, Mike Luby, while at TAPS.

Personal: Son of Donald and Stella Wright. DJ was on the Top 150 players in the country of Canada list. He hopes to continue his success with basketball at the NBA level. If that does not happen, DJ would want to become a basketball coach.

Why SLCC? I like Salt Lake and Coach Parrish a lot.
