Microsoft Excel


Excel Level I

Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Windows.
Workshop consists of two 3-hr sessions.
This module introduces the basic skills necessary for creating, printing and saving Excel workbooks. It includes tasks to create simple formulas, use basic functions, work with ranges, auto-fill, copy and move data. Covers basis skills needed to prepare worksheets for printing; page setup, Headers & Footers, format numbers, text, cells, borders, columns, rows and AutoFormat.

Excel Working with Large Worksheets

Prerequisite: Excel Level I.
Workshop consists of one 3.5-hr session.
Tasks include working with multiple worksheets, navigating worksheets, inserting/deleting worksheets, moving worksheets, copying worksheets, and re-naming worksheets. Other topics covered include creating 3-D formulas or formulas using multiple worksheets and multiple workbooks. Freezing panes, splitting the window, working with outlines, sorting data using ascending/descending order, find/replace data and using Range Names.

Excel Charts and Graphics

Prerequisite: Excel Level I.
Workshop consists of one 3.5-hr session.
Tasks include creating, formatting and editing charts; changing chart types, moving, sizing and formatting chart objects, legends, data table, source data, and printing charts. Advanced chart formatting of Gridlines, Axis, Secondary Axis, Trendline, and user defined Charts. Students will also learn how to draw lines, boxes, ellipses, flow charts, connectors, arrows, stars, banners and AutoShapes.

Excel Database Management/Pivot Tables

Prerequisite: Excel Level I.
Workshop consists of one 3.5-hr session.
Learn how to take raw data and create valuable management reports. Filter data with AutoFilter and Advanced filters; perform Multiple-field sorts; format data using Conditional Formats, Data Validation, use Subtotals, Database functions, Data Form and export/import data. Create PivotTable reports, add/move PivotTable fields, change/format PivotTables, and create PivotTable Charts.

Excel Using Advanced Functions

Prerequisite: Excel Level I.
Workshop consists of one 3.5-hr session.
This module introduces advanced Excel functions including Function Arguments, Financial Functions; Logical Functions, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, IF, AND, OR and ISERROR advanced functions. Students will learn how to solve problems using Scenarios, Goal Seek, Data Tables and Custom Views.

Excel Organizational Tools

Prerequisite: Excel Level I.
Workshop consists of one 3.5-hr session.
This module introduces the skills to organize Excel information; creating, viewing and using Comments; using the Auditing Tools and WatchWindow; worksheet Protection, Workbook Protection, assigning and removing passwords. Students will also learn how to create and use Excel Templates, share Excel workbooks with others and track changes to shared workbooks.

Excel Macros, Toolbars, and Macro Buttons

Prerequisite: Excel Level I.
Workshop consists of one 3.5-hr session.
This module introduces the skills necessary to Define, Record and Run Excel Macros. Students will learn how to edit Macros, enter Macro Commands, use Relative and Absolute References; assign Macro shortcut-Keys, create a Macro Toolbar Button to run macros and create and modify macro buttons.
