What to Expect From the College

IAS Course Evaluations

The Instructional Assessment System (IAS) is an evaluation that is administered for all SLCC courses, including CE courses. Evaluations occur generally once a year for each different course taught. The evaluations are distributed by the high school coordinator through the SLCC Office of Institutional Research, 801-957-4110.

Liaisons

Full-time CE liaisons are hired to act as a resource for instructors in English, Family & Human Studies, Visual Art/Design, and Math. They meet SLCC faculty hiring requirements and teach at least one course at SLCC. Working closely with the CE instructor, they help to ensure qualify of instruction. SLCC faculty are assigned as liaisons for other courses; they also make regular site visits each semester to CE classes and team teach, answer questions, and review the course for comparability. The assigned liaison and phone number is listed on the approved course proposal and in the approval letter. Academic advisor liaisons are available for Concurrent Enrollment students at 801-957-4844 and 801-957-4215.

Course Textbooks & Curriculum

Instructors may request to borrow a desk copy of a textbook from their SLCC division office. SLCC does not provide textbooks for students. If books are to be purchased from the SLCC Bookstore, please call 801-957-4045 before July 1 to order the books. Policies on purchasing student textbooks vary among school districts. Contact your school administrator for additional information.

Professional Development

Seminars and workshops are offered by SLCC for CE instructors.  They may be special CE meetings, content-specific meetings, or department faculty meetings.  All CE instructors are invited to the annual Adjunct Faculty Conference, held the third Saturday in October, and the SLCC Faculty Convention held in April each year.  CE instructors are required to participate in four (4) hours of college-sponsored or college-approved professional development each year.
