Concurrent Enrollment

Getting Paid for Site Visits and Projects

Pre-approval from the SLCC Concurrent Enrollment Director and the appropriate SLCC Academic Department is required for all work preformed by a liaison. The assignment to the role of a liaison by the SLCC home department constitutes pre-approval for performing the required site visits with peer evaluations outlined on this website. Liaison Projects require approval on a case by case basis. Part-time employees must ensure that they do not exceed the 125 per month limit set by the college between the work they perform as a liaison and other work done at the college as an adjunct faculty member or in other capacities. A table of standard times for the most common projects is listed below as a starting point for estimating time required for different projects.

The Concurrent Enrollment Office will pay only for completed site visits and approved and completed CE Liaison Projects submitted through MyCE. For regular site visits with peer evaluations, liaisons must submit the completed Visit Report Form in MyCE, and the teacher must verify the visit through MyCE before compensation for site visits can be processed. For liaison projects including professional development, mentoring, new course proposal visits, etc. liaisons must complete the CE Liaison Project form in MyCE. All liaison forms should be completed in MyCE within one week of making the visit or completing the project.

Payments for site visits with a CE Adjunct Teacher Peer Evaluation includes: (1) time spent arranging the visit, (2) observing the classroom/lab for the entire duration of the class period, (3) evaluation of the CE adjunct teacher’s syllabus and other curriculum materials, (4) discussion that occurs with the concurrent enrollment teacher during that period, and (5) any follow-up communication with the teacher or CE office and office work associated with the visit. Full-time employees of the college may also be paid for travel time to and from their SLCC office to the site they are visiting.

Below is a list of payment policies for site visits and liaison projects:

  • If multiple classes or sections of the same course are discussed in a conference with the high school adjunct teacher in one site visit, payment will be made for only one visit.
  • If two courses such as lecture and lab are observed in one class period, payment will be made for only one visit.
  • Liaisons who do not wish to be paid must notify the Concurrent Enrollment Office.
  • The electronic CE Adjunct Teacher Peer Evaluation form and the CE Liaison Project form in MyCE are the only forms that will be accepted for payment.
  • Once the forms have been submitted it may take up to four weeks before the payment is deposited (see the SLCC pay schedule). Payment will be made according to the SLCC payroll calendar.

The table below lists standards times and total pay for each liaison activity. Liaisons may spend less or more time on each activity depending on the specific circumstances. Exceeding the standard rates by a substantial amount of time requires documented justification and special approval from both the CE director and the associate dean.

Meetings

Adjunct faculty who are part-time liaisons will be the college standard rate of approximately $22/hr for attending any required meetings specifically related to the role and responsibility of the liaison hosted by the concurrent enrollment department.
