One of the many roles of a comprehensive community college is to understand the changing economy, workplace, and community needs -- adjusting academic programs and processes as necessary in order to maintain educational rigor, relevance and responsiveness. 

  Offering high quality educational programs at Utah’s state prison is an example of exactly this.  “Overcome the past by building a better future” is the mission of this outreach initiative.  The goals are to empower offenders to rejoin the community as productive citizens; reduce recidivism; and, strengthen Utah’s society and economy.
