We strongly encourage applicants to apply online it is safe, secure and faster.

First, obtain a paper copy of the FAFSA. These can be obtained from the Financial Aid Office.

Second, fill out the paper application.

Third, mail it to the federal processor. This can take up to six weeks for the federal processor to receive and process an application.

What happens next?:

The financial aid office usually receives new applications within one week of being processed by the federal processor. Once we have received an application from the federal processor it will be analyzed and a letter will be sent to the applicant telling the applicant what additional paperwork must be submitted to complete the application. Once all additional paperwork has been received by our office we can process your forms. Necessary forms can be obtained online from our forms page.

Depending on the accuracy of the data originally submitted by the applicant on the FAFSA when compared to the additional paperwork submitted corrections may or may not be necessary. If corrections are not necessary the application will be completed and made ready for awarding. If corrections are necessary it may take up to four additional weeks to finish the correction process and make the application ready for awarding.

The awarding process takes all newly completed applications and determines what aid the applicant is eligible to receive from the funds that are available. This is done in a batch process that runs regularly throughout the award year. Awarding for an award year usually starts in May and continues regularly after that. Applicants are notified of their eligibility and awards by mail.

Summer Term Aid:

Aid for summer term requires additional steps. Please contact the office if you are planning on attending a summer term. You will need to complete all of the above steps for your application as well as additional steps for summer term.

If, for some reason an applicant cannot be awarded a letter stating the nature of the problem will be sent. The most common reason a student cannot be awarded is lack of Satisfactory Academic Progress. For details on this policy see the Satisfactory Academic Progress page.
