INTD 1010 Introduction to Interior Design (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): None
This course provides an overview of the interior design profession including principles and elements of design, furniture selection, accessories, lighting, fabrics and architectural finishes.

INTD Color Theory Shibui Board

INTD 1200 Theory & Psychology of Color (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): None
This course reviews theories of color and their application, especially as it relates to psychological impacts of both residential and commercial settings.

INTD 1220 Drafting for Interior Designers (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): None
The tools, techniques & media used for drafting by interior designers are emphasized in this class. Space planning, working drawings, electrical plans & schedules are reviewed as well as applications in residential and commercial projects.

INTD 1230 Historical Furnishings (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): None
This course is a survey of historical furnishings from ancient civilizations through the Victorian era, with special emphasis on French, English and American periods.

INTD 1310 Prof. Practice/Interior Design (4 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1010, 1200, 1220, 1340
Lab Fee: $50
This course is an introduction to basic business principles involved in the interior design. You will have the opportunity to work with an actual project from concept to design execution. This class should be one of your last classes to take.

INTD 1320 Perspective and Rendering (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1220
This course emphasizes the techniques and media used by interior designers for perspective drawings and renderings.

INTD 1330 Contemporary Furnishings (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): None
This course is a survey of contemporary furnishings from the end of the Victorian period to present day, emphasizing the master of contemporary furniture design and current trends.

INTD 1340 Materials & Components (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1010
A survey of properties, production & use of textiles that are basic in apparel & household products. Included are an analysis of human-made and natural fibers, yarns, fabric construction and finishes.

INTD 1355 Kitchen & Bath Design (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1450
This course is an overview of basic kitchen and bath design layout. This course will require students to focus on individual projects and field work.

INTD Cafe Perspective Drawing

INTD 1360 Lighting (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1010, 1220
This course focuses on the scientific and aesthetic basis of light as it applies to interior environments and also analyzes the utilization of space, from rooms to buildings, as well as general zoning requirements.

INTD 1370 Commercial Interior design (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1450
This course provides an overview of the principles of commercial interior design, ADA & LEED design. This course will require students to focus on individual projects and field work.

INTD 1400 Quick Sketch (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): None
A basic introduction to drawing and rendering interior spaces in a very fast manner. Use of color markers and pencils will be explored. At the end of class, each student will have a journal of many fast drawn sketches of furniture, lighting, and interior spaces.

INTD 1450 Auto CAD I for Interior Designers (4 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1020
Lab Fee: $50
Students gain the practical knowledge in the use of Auto CAD that is essential in producing architectural drawings. This course includes hands-on applications. Simple drawings will be produced.

INTD AutoCAD Rendering

INTD 1460 Auto CAD II for Interior Designers (4 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1450
Lab Fee: $50
This course is a continuation of the AutoCAD Essentials / AutoCAD I course. In this class we will further explore AutoCAD as a tool for Interior Design and Design Professionals. To accomplish this, we will begin to use AutoCAD, in combination with Sketch-Up to aid you in your profession. This is an advanced AutoCAD course, and therefore, you must have taken the AutoCAD Essentials for Interior Designers Course 1400, and passed it with a grade of C or better. Over the course of this class, we will continue to look at advanced 2-D tools and commands, AutoCAD customization tools, professional file management and set-up, 3-D modeling and rendering tools, and finally, an introduction to Sketch-Up.

INTD 1500 Construction Principles (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1450
This class will provide the instruction needed regarding the construction process essential for interiors designer to speak, act and plan effectively while functioning in the realm of both new construction and present tenant build-outs, a.k.a. remodels. Students will learn fundamentals of the construction process, job-site vocabulary, basic construction estimating and effective design/build planning.

INTD 1550 Portfolio Preparation (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): INTD 1010, 1200, 1220, 1230, 1310, 1320, 1330, 1340, 1450, 1500
This course provides an overview of planning, preparation, and presentation of design projects and portfolios required job applications. Students will be expected to create portfolios that display their work and demonstrate spatial and visual design abilities with the use of digital media.

INTD 1800 Sustainable Interiors (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): TBD
This course will provide an in-depth study of core sustainable concepts including: design strategies, indoor health, energy efficiency, lighting and environmentally responsible products as well as an introduction to the LEED? rating system as it applies to interiors. The semester will culminate with a design project that incorporates these concepts, which will serve as a strong element of their final portfolio.

INTD 2000 Interior Design Internship (3 CR)
Prerequisite(s): Instructor's Approval
This course provides the opportunity to interact with a professional design studio or retail business in a working environment, under the combined supervision of an on-site supervisor and a college faculty member.
