How long does it take to complete the INTD program? The training can be completed in one year but it is not absolutely necessary to do.
Tell me about the Certificate. You will receive a certificate after completing the required courses. It is designed to demonstrate to employers that the student has a mastery of core materials. This certificate will note the number of semester hours of training each student has completed
Is a license required to be an designer or design assistant? At this time there is no state requirement that a license is required.
What is the salary range? Students can start between $10 and $14 per hour. Annual salary ranges for a full-time employee start at approximately $27,000.
Is a degree possible in INTD? Students may earn a Certificate from SLCC. Credit generated by completion of these courses may be used toward a college degree.
How often does a new set of classes begin? New groups start in August and January.
Do my INTD credits transfer to other institutions, both inside and outside of Utah? We recommend that you take a SLCC catalog to the school where you wish to transfer and show an advisor all interior classes along with their course descriptions.
Do credits from other institutions transfer into SLCC? Students routinely transfer to SLCC interior design course work from other institutions. The former school needs to be accredited by a recognized agency.
Is financial aid available for INTD classes? Sorry . . . no financial aid is available at this time.
What kind of jobs are available to INTD students? A tremendous variety of jobs are available at this time - everything from sales to drafting to design assistant work. In this field, students needs to earn their way up to higher level positions. It is rare for a student to begin at a mid- or upper- level position.
