mission

The mission of the Mathematics Department of Salt Lake Community College is to deliver services that meet the mathematical needs of a diversified student body at a comprehensive community college. 

These services include:

  • Offering educational experiences enabling students to transfer to other institutions of higher education.
  • Supporting high school mathematics by providing concurrent enrollment classes.
  • Offering occupational and technical learning opportunities to meet the needs of business and industry.
  • Preparing students with strong skills in mathematical communication, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.

Furthermore, the Mathematics Department must evaluate academic and technological trends as well as design curriculum that utilize those technologies to improve both the teaching and learning of mathematics. Consequently, the department mission requires the maintenance of professional expertise and provides professional development for instructors.
