Parking Violations

*** FINES DOUBLE AFTER 7 DAYS ***

HOW TO PAY A VIOLATION
Parking violation payments can be made at the following locations: Parking Services AD 150 Taylorsville Redwood Campus, Cashiers on all campuses, ID Center South City Campus, Courtesy Desk on the Jordan campus.  Debit or credit card payments can be made by telephone to Parking Services at 957-4011.  Payments can also be made by mailing a check to the address shown on the parking violation ticket.

MAILED PAYMENTS will be considered paid as of the postmark on the envelope. Include the bottom portion of the violation ticket with your name and Student ID number clearly printed in the box indicated.  To insure proper credit, please write the violation ticket number on your check or money order.  Send the amount shown on the bottom of the violation ticket.  If the fine has doubled and payment is incomplete, your records will be placed on hold until the fine is completely paid.

UNPAID VIOLATIONS will result in a hold on grades, transcripts and future registrations. All penalties must be cleared before the hold and/or impound is released.

WARNING: Vehicles with any unpaid violations are subject to BOOT or TOW.  When your vehicle is booted the option to appeal those violations becomes void.  You must come into our office by 6:00 PM Monday thru Thursday, 3:00 PM on Friday, to pay the amount due, or the vehicle will be impounded.  You will then be charged with additional impound fees.

Tampering with the boot, but causing no damage, is in direct violation of Utah Code, section  76-6-409, Theft of Services.  Damage or theft of the boot is in direct violation of Utah Code, section 76-6-412, and is a Class A Misdemeanor.   Any person in violation of the above codes is civilly liable for three times the actual mount of damages.

PARKING VIOLATIONS APPEALS
The appeal process has been set up to handle disputed parking violations. All violations must be paid in full prior to submitting an appeal. There are two levels to the appeal process:

The first level is a written appeal to Parking Services.  Written appeal forms may be obtained at and submitted to the South City Cashier and ID Center, Jordan Campus Cashier, Taylorsville Redwood Campus Cashier, and the Parking Services Office (AD150).  The form must be complete and legible for the appeal to be considered.  You will be contacted by mail within seven to ten days as to the disposition of your appeal.  If the appeal is DENIED, the money will be applied to the violation that was appealed.  If the appeal is marked GRANTED you must bring the granted appeal card with picture ID to the Parking Services Office for a reimbursement.

The second level is composed of a committee including students, faculty, staff and a Public Safety Officer. All committee members are volunteers.  Committee members can either rant, deny or reduce the fine amount.  Their decision is final.  Since they are the second level of appeal, you must turn in a written appeal first.

Meter Malfunction:  If a violation is issued due to a meter that is out of order, the violation must be appealed within 24 hours to allow the meter to be repaired in a timely manner.
