SLCC Dance Company

The SLCC Dance Company is an auditioned performing group at the College. Our mission is to support excellence in the art of dance. We perform mostly modern and jazz dance, but include ballet, tap, African, and many other genres. Dancers have an opportunity to work with guest choreographers (professional dancers from the community), faculty and the best of student choreography. We strive to give a broad range of professional caliber experiences in creativity and performance.

There are TWO audition dates available for membership in Dance Company and partial tuition waiver awards for the academic year 2010-2011.   The first date is Saturday, April 17, 2010,  9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.    The second audition date is Friday, August 27, 2010, 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.   Both auditions will be held in the W-230 Dance Studio, on the South City Campus, 1575 South State Street, Salt Lake City.   You do not have to attend both.  Please choose one that best fits your schedule.

There are partial tuition waivers available for selected students from these auditions. You must email Tess Boone to reserve an audition place or call 801-957-4908.  Dance tuition waivers are only available for Dance Company members.

For the auditions, just come ready to dance. We will have a technique class, teach a short jazz combination, short modern dance combination, and participate in a group improvisation. You need to be able to stay that entire time. You do not need to prepare any choreography. Both men and women are welcome and you must have previous dance experience. You also must register as a student at SLCC to be a member and, if you are chosen, register for DNC1800 (which meets MWF, 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at South City Campus). Dance Company is a year long commitment.
