Programs Adult Basic Education – Reading, Writing, and MathInstruction is designed to assist you to improve your reading, writing, and mathematics skills before you enter vocational training. Your instructor will work with you on an individual basis using a variety of instructional tools and materials to help you reach the desired skills level. Most work may be applied toward high school completion/diploma if you are registered in adult education through your school district. Computer-assisted instruction is also provided through the Skills Center Integrated Learning (SCIL) Lab and is designed to supplement classroom activities. Instruction is geared to meet the needs of the most elementary level adults through high school/college reading, writing, and math skills. Program Facts

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test PreparationThis program is designed to assist you in preparing for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The scores on this test battery can qualify candidates for certain jobs and training in the armed forces. Instruction is concentrated in the ten ASVAB areas:
Resource materials and instructors are available for individual lessons and practice before taking the test. Reading and test-taking strategies are presented to reduce test anxiety and encourage confidence. Practice tests will be administered to measure the student’s readiness for completing the exam. GED Test PreparationThis program is designed for individual study to prepare you for the GED exam. Resource material is available for individual lessons and practice in the tested areas of mathematics, writing skills, social science, science, and interpreting literature and the arts. Reading and test-taking tips are presented in the course to lessen test anxiety and encourage confidence. Diagnostic and practice tests are administered to measure your readiness for the exam. The Skills Center Integrated Learning (SCIL) Lab also is used to strengthen classroom instruction and to prepare the student for the final GED exam. GED tests are given by appointment in the Skills Center Assessment Office.
