The Utah State Legislature created the Shrot Term Intensive Training (STIT) program for the sole purpose of helping employers upgrade the skill level of their current and prospective employees.
Key Points:
- Training is short-term in duration (one year or less)
- Trainees must be currently seeking employment and need to obtain employable skills, or
- They must be employed but want to learn new skills to prepare themselves for a better job, or
- They must be enrolling in a course to successfully complete a licensing/certification test required for securing and/or maintaining employment in their respective field, or
- They must be presently employed, but need upgrade training. If so, their employer must complete a form indicating that the employee will receive a salary upgrade or promotion.
