CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Weber State University in cooperation with Salt Lake Community College’s (SLCC) University Center offers a Criminal Justice Bachelor of Science degree through extension at Salt Lake Community College.

This evening program is available to students who have completed certain lower division courses through Salt Lake Community College’s Criminal Justice program. The program offers several concentrations: Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Law and Justice. Students who enroll in this program are Weber State University students, and pay Weber tuition and fees, although courses will be attended at SLCC’s Redwood Campus. While completing their courses here, all necessary student services will be provided through the University Center, WSU and SLCC.

In addition to fulfilling various prerequisites for the Criminal Justice major, an Associate of Science Degree earned from SLCC meets all of WSU’s general education requirements. Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor as early as possible to support effective transfer and planning of courses. We recommend that students complete their Associate of Science prior to transferring into the program.

Minor: A minor or a double major is required of all students in the Weber State University Criminal Justice program available through the University Center At SLCC.  In lieu of a minor, an 18 hour emphasis may be selected in consultation with the Chair and only in instances where a specific minor is not offered at WSU. Psychology is offered as a minor through the WSU/CJ extension program.  The minor requires PSY 1010 plus an additional 15 hours of PSY upper division electives.  These electives are available here on the SLCC campus through Weber State University.

Beginning Spring Semester 2010, Weber State University will begin to offer a minor in Sociology.  The Sociology minor will require SOC 1010 and 15 hours of SOC upper division electives.  A Deviance and Criminology Emphasis is available as a minor within the Sociology Department.
