"Training Today for a Career Tomorrow"
This Program with Utah State University (USU) and Salt Lake Community College is offered at the Redwood Road campus with some courses being offered at other Salt Lake Valley locations. Students can complete their general education, elective courses and many of the required plant courses as an SLCC student.
Utah State University offers this degree in Ornamental Horticulture to prepare individuals for careers in one of the fastest growing industries in Utah. Careers are available in areas from retail nursery, golf course and turf management, greenhouse production, to indoor and outdoor landscape design and maintenance. Students may opt to complete a one-year certificate, Associate of Applied Science or Bachelors of Science degree. Individual courses are also offered for professional certification in the following areas:
- State of Utah Commercial Pesticide Applicators License
- The Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) Certified Interior Landscape Technician.
- The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist
- Utah Nursery and Landscape Association (UNLA) Certified Nursery Professional
The Ornamental Horticulture program designs its courses to fill the needs of working adults continuing their education as well as those of traditional students. Courses are offered during evening hours one night a week, Monday through Thursday, generally from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. each semester.

Registration Information
The first time you take a USU class you must register in person at the USU Salt Lake City Center, 2500 South State Street, SLC, UT, 84115. (801-646-5570). The staff will assist you in the registration process. In subsequent semesters, you may register and pay on-line.

- Please note that off-campus registration generally begins five (5) weeks before the semester starts. Please register as early as possible.
- It is extremely important that you register each semester BEFORE the semester begins. A $20 late fee will be assessed to students for each class registered after the beginning of the first day of the semester. If you have any questions about deadlines, please call the USU Center or Donna Minch.
- Students taking classes at the SLCC Campus must purchase a parking permit. Parking Services are located in the Administration Building, Room 150 E, 957-4041
