Luncheon formalizing the agreement will be held at SLCC
Westminster and Salt Lake Community College have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to link their Accelerated Business programs to provide students a seamless transition between the two colleges. Students can now transfer all coursework for their associate’s degree at SLCC directly to Westminster College toward a bachelor’s degree in business on an accelerated schedule—providing students at each institution the opportunity to receive both their associate and bachelor degree in far less time than traditional programs.
“We are pleased to lead the way with an institution as fine as Westminster College to provide Utah’s students the most efficient and effective route to the degrees they need to be successful in the business workforce today” said Karen Gunn, Dean of SLCC’s School of Professional and Economic Development. “That both colleges had already recognized the demand for accelerated business programs at the associate and bachelor levels, it makes perfect sense for us to work together for the benefit of all of our students.”
Westminster College initiated the relationship with SLCC to facilitate its new Bachelor of Business Administration <http://bbainfo.westminstercollege.edu/> (BBA) degree program. Westminster’s BBA is a unique program for adults who have their AA or AS, and want to complete their undergraduate degree in business. The BBA is specially designed for adults who already have significant work experience, and who want to combine the flexibility of online learning with the personal faculty mentoring for which Westminster is known.
“Since launching the BBA, we have had many adults apply who have not yet fully completed their AA or AS,” noted Aric Krause, Dean of Westminster’s Division of New Learning. “With this agreement, we can advise these students to complete the necessary coursework through Salt Lake Community College’s online accelerated business program before enrolling at Westminster. Likewise, students in Salt Lake Community College’s Accelerated Business program will have a seamless transition through which to get their bachelor’s degree.”
