Salt Lake Community College's Social Work program prepares students to work in the rapidly growing field of health and human services. Social Workers are employed in a variety of community settings and are trained to fulfill many professional roles. With this in mind, Social Work faculty have designed the associate degree curriculum to introduce students to the core functions and skills required to work as an entry level social worker.
For students interested in working within the field of mental health, the SLCC Social Work program is the only junior college in Utah to offer students the required coursework for the new Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) certificate, the Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC) certificate, and the coursework required for the Social Service Worker (SSW) license for individuals holding a non-social work bachelors degree.

Transfer Information
Due to numerous possibilities, it is suggested that students consult the Social Work Academic Advisor for information on how the higher education institutions accept credits for a given class. For specific information, contact the institution in which the transfer of credit is desired.
Social Work AS
“The Social Work AS program alone does not lead to professional licensure. This program prepares students for application and transfer to other programs of study that could eventually lead to professional licensure.
