With brand-new studio spaces for radio and television and a dedicated newsroom, the Communication Department is the best resource for students to develop the verbal, written and visual skills to convey their message to the world.
The department sponsors and directs a vibrant Mass Communication Center that allows students to experience journalism, radio, television and video, and the Internet. Students produce content for The Globe Newspaper (print and online), Radio SLCC (audio/radio), MCC-TV (video) and SLCCTV (broadcast television).
Visual Art & Design
Visual Art & Design provides a variety of disciplines in both traditional and digital media, each of which are designed for every student to obtain the most worthwhile personal and professional development in a growing field.
The visual arts allow students to produce creative works in traditional formats, such as paint, photography, or sculpture, and develop technological creations in animation, graphic design and multimedia. Architecture is latest program to be included under Visual Art & Design.
The Performing Arts Department enables students to discover and diversify their talents through an assortment of platforms, in environments which encourage and celebrate freedom of expression. Students who major in performing arts can become designers, actors, songwriters, comedians, dancers, musicians and singers.
Additionally, a new MIDI classroom and recording studio enhances the recently-developed music recording programs, and the department's new film stage offers film production students a professional setting to develop their projects.
