The Communication Department is dedicated to teaching a full range of courses in the communication discipline. Courses include interpersonal communication, public speaking, intercultural communication, journalism, digital media, broadcasting, video production, organizational communication, radio production, small group communication, conflict management, website design, interviewing, analysis of argument and public relations. Communication is a discipline that teaches vital skills for success in today's society. Good communication skills are highly prized in business, technical, and professional careers, in the community, and in personal relations.

The unique arrangement of coursework and talented faculty make earning an Associate Degree efficient and provide smooth transfers into university studies. Classes are taught at many campuses and online. Full-time communication faculty and the communication advisor are friendly and willing to answer any questions as they help you toward graduation. We offer an Associate of Science degree with different emphases in Mass Communication and Speech Communication.

The Department provides a hands-on approach and an excellent student-teacher ratio. The Department sponsors and directs a vibrant Globe Student Media Center that provides valuable instruction and real-world, hands-on experience in print journalism, radio, and television. The Globe Student Media Center releases a once-weekly newspaper via print and online, sponsors a student literary magazine, broadcasts over a web-based radio station and creates original content for students to develop skills in the world of television.

In addition, all Communication students are encouraged to participate in internships in their area of emphasis. A limited number of internships are available through the Globe Student Media Center. Preference is given to registered students majoring in Communication.
