Student Orientation

COVID-19 Update

In alignment with SLCC’s decision to transition their face-to-face classes to a remote learning model, and their recommendation to postpone large events and self-isolate, effective immediately, we are postponing all face-to-face orientations and have begun working virtually.

You can still complete your orientation requirement online and communicate with a staff member from the Orientation and Student Success department virtually. Log-in to MySLCC to access the online orientation found in your Semester Checklist tab, or visit to get started. If you need additional assistance or accommodations please email us at or visit Welcome website.

Orientation will guide your transition to SLCC. You’ll learn how to register for classes, information about our campuses, facilities, as well as available services and resources.

All first-time, first-year students must complete an orientation — that includes new students, former-concurrent students, and early high school graduate students. Returning and transfer students do not have to complete an orientation, but can register earlier for classes if they do so.

Orientation is offered at the following campuses: Taylorsville Redwood, South City and Jordan.

There are two types of orientation:

This free, 90-minute online session is ideal for international students who live outside of our country; transfer students who are already familiar with college procedures but want a refresher; School of Applied Technology (SAT) students who are pursuing a work-force certificate; or students who cannot attend a face-to-face orientation at one of our campuses.

To access the online orientation:

  • Log in to your MySLCC account
  • Click on the “Semester Checklist” tab if you are not there already
  • Choose "Click To See Your Info"
  • If you have not already completed orientation, you will find the online orientation link under “3: Orientation”
