The Associate in Pre-Engineering degree (APE) is offered in nine engineering disciplines, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Geological, Material Science, Mining, Mechanical, and Metallurgical Engineering, allowing students to complete the first two years of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree at SLCC before transferring to finish their final two years. Each APE degree includes three types of classes: Required courses (Math and Science), Elective courses (engineering classes depending on discipline), and General Education courses.

SLCC is pleased to announce a new General Engineering ‘Traditional’ and General Engineering ‘Full’ degree beginning Fall 2020, combining all the individual APE degrees under one umbrella referred to as “General Engineering”. Students should meet early with an engineering academic advisor to decide the best degree and create a course plan to meet career and education goals.

*For students in General Engineering ‘Traditional’ or General Engineering ‘Full’, the degree includes a new course - ENGR 1010 Engineering Math Techniques (3 credits, offered fall, spring, and summer). The class provides students a hands-on, application-oriented experience, teaching the tools needed to solve engineering math problems commonly found in the first two years of core engineering topics.
