He started the Division of Workforce & Economic Development at SLCC in 2015 after serving as the Dean of Technical Specialties. Rick has been with the College since 1999 in roles that have been focused on enhancing area businesses, governmental entities and community outreach. “Collaboration is the on-ramp to innovation!”

Jenni Abbott, Ed.D
Assistant Vice President, Workforce Training & Education
Responsibilities: Program development and evaluation; participant outcomes; strategic planning and continuous improvement for individual careers and industry needs.
Jenni leads a professional team in developing and delivering dozens of noncredit and credit programs that prepare Salt Lake community members for high demand jobs. The WTE team works closely with industry experts to design relevant training, helping individuals of all ages prepare for new careers or upskill for advancement.
Jenni comes from California with more than a decade of community college experience in strategic planning, research, and innovative workforce program development. She is passionate about educational collaboration with community and industry partners. Her expertise in sharing labor market information has helped clarify exploration and program choices, as students gain a better understanding of high demand/high wage careers.

Karen Dell

Karen leads a team of corporate training professionals that deliver tailored training to fit your company’s needs, fill skill gaps and improve the quality of your organization. Her team utilizes the Custom Fit Training program, funded by the State of Utah, to potentially help defray the cost of training and build out custom training to address your company’s needs.
She also matches companies and individuals with learning options designed to close identified skill gaps in the workforce. Her focus is to work with industries to solve training needs through a variety of custom training options and public training courses.
