About Alonso Reyna Rivarola

Alonso is the Director of PACE Programs. Originally from Lima, Peru, Alonso migrated to Utah when he was 11 years of age. His experiences growing up undocumented and queer in Utah have shaped his perspectives and inform his passion for supporting and serving historically marginalized communities while holding social institutions accountable. Alonso graduated from the University of Utah with an Honors B.S. in Sociology and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership & Policy with an emphasis in higher education administration. Alonso likes to garden, spend time with his cats, Kiwi and Gabo, and research in his free time. His research concerns PK 12 schooling practices and illegality in the United States. He has published numerous manuscripts in academic journals, including the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education and Gender and Education, and the books Educational Leadership of Immigrants: Case Studies in Times of Change and The Routledge Handbook of Gender and Feminist Geographies.
