Program Overview
Contractors are required by Utah DOPL to complete a total of 6 continuing education hours, every 2 years. Core and professional hours are listed in the table below. Contractors must complete a minimum of 3 hours in person or on Zoom.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Analyze solar technologies, photovoltaic market impacts, and best practices for panel selection, placement, permitting, and installation
- Perform HVAC load calculations, duct sizing, ventilation code compliance, and understand heat transfer, R-values, and U-values for energy-efficient systems
- Apply project scheduling techniques using Critical Path Methods and evaluate construction project timelines and resources
- Implement energy code compliance strategies including Utah amendments, HERS/ERI ratings, blower door testing, and residential energy performance standards
- Identify safety, lighting, and equipment best practices including OSHA fall protection, dark sky fixtures, rooftop unit operations, and Utah-specific code requirements
