Haiku Fundraiser!
A picture is worth a thousand words, but how much are three lines of words worth? We’re going to find out with your help.The Salt Lake Community College Foundation invites you to a fundraiser event for the SLCC Community Writing Center, Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the Art Barn in Reservoir Park, 100 S. 1325 East in Salt Lake City, Utah, from 6:30-10:30 p.m.
6:30pm: Social hour and Silent Auction Opens
7:30pm: Guest Speakers--Ed Firmage, Jr. (photographer and author) and winners of the
K-12 Haiku-a-thon contest.
8:45pm: Silent Auction Closing
9:00pm: Auction Items Awarded
Tickets for the event are priced at $20 per person ($10 fixed income). Space is quite limited, so please reserve your tickets in advance by calling (801) 957-4992 or e-mail us at cwc@slcc.edu for more information.

DiverseCity Writing Series Reading
Join local writers from the DiverseCity Writing Series as we read selections of writing composed over the past six months: letters to those we love and those we struggle to understand, stories of our children (both human and the furrier variety), snapshots of life (some more unusual than others), and thoughts on aging, our bodies and ourselves.Friday, December 5th

2008 Dewey Lecture Series Workshops
These writing workshops, taught by Community Writing Center staff and local writers, focus on the theme of each Dewey Lecture and encourage exploration of many writing genres. Workshops are free, but registration is required. Click here for workshop information.
