The SLCC nursing department is excited to offer students the opportunity to participate in a Study Abroad to Vietnam each Spring semester. This humanitarian medical trip involves two weeks of travel (one of which includes Spring Break). Our humanitarian partner in this experience is COPI: Children of Peace International

( http://www.childrenofpeace.org ). Donna Thompson MS, RN. APRN is the Nursing Faculty contact person for detail and registration. Students participating in this trip may receive clinical credit for pediatric or community health nursing. Students not eligible for clinical credit may still receive elective credit for independent study. If you are interested in learning more about this trip, contact the SLCC Study Abroad Department. http://www.slcc.edu/intl

A highlight of the Nightingale Sojourn Study Abroad will be a guest lecture by Anne Perry, an internationally renowned author and expert on health care issues in Victorian England during Florence Nightingale’s lifetime.  Anne Perry is the best selling author of two acclaimed series of books set in England’s Victorian period (the William Monk novels, and the Charlotte and Thomas Pitt novels).  Recent New York Times bestsellers include Death of a Stranger, The Shifting Tide, Seven Dials, No Graves, and Southampton Row.  Anne writes two major novels each year and has sold over 20 million copies of her books worldwide to enormous popular and critical acclaim.  Perry was selected by The London Times as one of the 20th century’s “100 Masters of Crime”.  Publisher’s Weekly writes:  “Perry uses her characters and story to comment on ethical issues that remain as relevant today as they were in Victorian times.”  Perry’s novel, A Sudden Fearful Death, will be a required reading for the Nightingale Sojourn Study Abroad.
