Agustin Bautista Silva

Agustin Bautista Silva

Assistant Director

Pialli nehuatl notoca Agustin, hello my name is Agustin I have a Bachelor's degree from Weber State University in Electronics Engineering. I was born in Guerrero, Mexico and I am a first-generation college student. College is hard as it is and not being able to know who to turn to with questions can make things harder. That's where I come in, I specifically work with first year students from our Summer Bridge Program, but that does not mean that if you are not part of our program, you can't ask questions, so come visit us if you get stuck trying to navigate SLCC. Our doors are always open, and we are always willing to help. When I am not working with students I like to learn about other cultures and languages. I like nature so being outdoors is a must for me when the weather gets warm. That is a little bit about me, good luck in your classes, pongansen las pilas y hechenle ganas.

I earned my B.S. in Mass Media Studies from Missouri State University, my M.F.A. in Film Studies from the University of Utah, and am finishing a PhD program in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Utah. I also teach film courses at SLCC and continue to make films along with other arts in the community. I have a history of working with refugee and immigrant background students and also an advocate for mental health awareness. I also like hiking, performing from time to time, and I have multiple cats and dogs at home so clearly am a fan of animals.

Jose Loeri

Jose Loeri

Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jose Loeri (They/Them/Theirs). I graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's in Writing and Rhetoric Studies. I started my journey at SLCC as a first-generation student though. I have first-hand experience with how hard college can be, and I want to make it easier for anyone that I interact with! My role as a coordinator with the Summer Bridge program is to help students make college a reality, especially if someone tells you it's impossible.

In addition to being a coordinator: I love to hike, the gym (maybe one day I will look like someone who loves the gym, I just have to stop liking ice cream), table-top RPGs and board games, podcasts (fiction is my favorite), research, and learning.
