With Day of the Dead coming up, SLCC would like to celebrate all of the cultural events throughout the community! Promote your event by submitting to our Day of the Dead calendar. With the many exciting and educational activities happening throughout the county, there’s something for everyone to experience and celebrate the holiday.

Oct 12 - Oct 28 Perdida
Based on Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, Perdida is set in pre-Revolutionary Mexico, where powerful Dons ruled like kings. Shakespeare’s story of passion, jealousy and redemption is retold in the Latino style of magical realism, using a variety of traditional musical forms. A group of musicians and actors tell the story of Perdida through music, words and dance. Learn More

Oct 13 Altar del Día de Muertos
The Grand Theatre and Artes de México en Utah will display the Altar de Día de Muertos on the opening weekend of Perdida, Friday, October 13 at 6:30 pm. A Mexican tradition to honor their deceased loved ones and the celebration of their life. Learn More

Oct 21 Catrina y Catrines Contest
Una Mano Amiga and Victor's Tires invites you to participate in the first Official State of Utah 2017 celebration of the Day of the Dead. We will have a Parade of Catrina and Catrines contest. The contest will consist of the elaboration and design of the custume and make up of "La Catrina and/or el Catrin". Entries are open starting today! The Utah Cultural Celebration Center presents the 2017 Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) community gathering. The celebration features traditional Mexican dance, food, a beer garden, and a variety of exciting, educational, and hands-on activities for the whole family, plus a chance to experience a folk art exhibit recognizing this significant and expressive Mexican holiday.
