English 1830: Literary Magazine Studies
This is the course that produces Folio: SLCC’s Literary and Art Magazine!
Catalog Description: In this course students learn about the theory and practice of producing literary art magazines. Students will gather submissions from the SLCC community, select pieces for publication, edit, and layout the magazine and website to produce Folio. Students gain experience with publication software and equipment.
Join us in the fall for this hands-on work!
By joining the course, you become magazine “staff” for one semester. You will collaborate with peers and publication center staff, explore your creativity, and build your resume. In this course, you practice marketing, using design software like Adobe InDesign, editing written and visual work, evaluating design choices, and more to publish a print version of Folio.
Prerequisite: ENGL 1010 w/C or better
