Finding Rhythm in Healthcare
Graduating early from high school in 2026, Dylan Wright found interest, first in music, and then in science.
"I had a good experience in school, and I especially loved art, music, and my anatomy class – I loved doing dissections!" he shares. Through early enrollment, Dylan completed his general education requirements and discovered a passion for the medical field.
"My interest in healthcare is deeply personal," say Dylan. "Both my grandmother and my best friend had heart attacks. It made me realize I want to be part of helping people in those important moments."
When Dylan first enrolled in the Surgical Technology program, he was balancing an intense work and school schedule. "I was working 2 to 10 am, then going straight to school from 11 am to 3 pm. I was trying to juggle everything!" Then, in Fall of 2025, he received the Metallica Scholars Initiative scholarship and was able to focus solely on his education. "Now I can concentrate on school. I can spend my time studying and not worry about how I'll pay for college."
Dylan will earn an AAS in Surgical Technology by the end of 2026, with hopes of working in pediatrics. "I'm excited to jump into the field and start helping patients. Because of this scholarship, I'm able to start saving lives earlier.
And a shoutout to the band: "Thank you! You've not only helped me, but you have also expanded my teacher's playlist! Now they don't play just old country, they'll play Metallica, too!"
