Prospective ITP students now can start the ITP
either Fall or Spring semester.

A S L Interpreting Video LinkThe Interpreter Training Program (ITP) is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position in the rapidly expanding and rewarding field of sign language interpreting.  After successful completion of the program, students must apply for and pass the Utah State Interpreter Certification test to be able to work as an interpreter.  The interpreter training program will prepare students to take the Level I (Novice) certification test offered by the state.

Career Opportunities

Career opportunities for interpreters exist in the fields of education, business, employment, social services, mass media, finance, medical care, mental health, legal aid, law enforcement, religion, recreation, video relay and the arts.

ADA

The passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) holds the promise of ending discrimination for individuals.  Under this act, any employer, governmental agency, public service provider, medical facility or business will be responsible to provide and pay for qualified interpreters if such services are requested.  With the passage of the ADA, the demand for interpreters has grown.
