Kati Lewis

Director

Kati is the Director of the Community Writing Center and Assistant Professor of English at Salt Lake Community College. She has been teaching writing, literature, and critical theory for the past eleven years. Her areas of interest include postcolonial studies, creative writing, social justice, queer studies, high-impact practices, and global/local learning. She enjoys writing short fiction, creative nonfiction, and multimedia essays. She's also a part-time yogi, runner, and hiker.

Associate Director

Claire is the Associate Director of the Community Writing Center and Associate Professor of Humanities at Salt Lake Community College. Claire was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and moved to the United States in November 2007. At the Community Writing Center, Claire works on the youth programs. As an associate professor of humanities at Salt Lake Community College, Claire develops curriculum for and teaches the Intro to Humanities 1100 class and the Essentials of the Humanities 1010 (Online). She also teaches INTL 2040 The Immigrant Experience Through Literature & Film class. In her spare time, she is passionate about refugee advocacy and enjoys running, hiking, skiing and paddle boarding.”

Writing Consultant/Youth Programs Coordinator

Nicolas Nuusila is the Youth Program Coordinator for the Community Writing Center. He is currently a student at the University of Utah, majoring in Writing and Rhetoric. He wants everyone to feel like a writer no matter what or how they write. He loves reading and writing in the Fantasy genre. He loves anime and volleyball and some crossover in volleyball anime. He likes playing his ukulele and guitar while making goofy songs never to be written down or recreated.

Lisa Donaldson

Lisa Donaldson

Writing Consultant/Offsite Coordinator

Lisa is a student at the University of Utah working towards a BA in Writing and Rhetoric and a minor in Environment and Sustainability. She is passionate about environmental justice, and feels that writing and communication are vital tools to empower individuals and communities. She enjoys writing about the natural world, and her environmental writing is published in the first edition of Earth Tones Undergraduate Journal. Lisa is also working as an editor for the 2019 and 2020 editions of the Undergraduate Journal of Contemporary Issues and Media. She loves animals and the outdoors, and spends her free time gardening, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and enjoying live music concerts.

Nalu Francis

Writing Consultant/Outreach and Communications Coordinator

Nalu is a currently enrolled as a student at Salt Lake Community College, studying English and Media Music. He is interested in language, music, art, and their relationships with one another. Growing up in Hawaii, he developed a love of nature and the ocean as a kid. He spends most of his spare time composing, playing music, hiking, camping, reading books, and writing. Nalu also loves spending time and working with animals.

Wesley recently graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in English and has plans to return in pursuit of a post-graduate degree. Wesley loves stories of all shapes and sizes, and the only thing he enjoys more than reading them is sharing them with other people. He believes that everyone has an important story to tell, and with the right help, they can tell it in the best way to as many people as possible. Wesley enjoys spending his time reading, writing poetry, hiking, and playing with his dog.

Kobe enjoys reading, thinking about life, cooking and writing. He is working towards two bachelor’s in history, and writing and rhetoric studies He also enjoys video games, boba and petting dogs.

Nash Hutto

Nash Hutto

Writing Consultant/Publications Coordinator

Nash graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After moving to Utah, she studied Graphic Design at Salt Lake Community College and began working as the Web Editor for SLCC's Arts and Literary magazine, Folio. She shows her art in local galleries and exhibitions, and works in various mediums, predominately oil painting, pen and ink drawing, and digital art. She is currently working on writing and illustrating a graphic novel. When she isn't immersed in art, she enjoys reading, exploring the great outdoors, and hanging out with her dog.
