Strategy 4 - Grow 2+2 Partnerships

In order to support our students in bachelor’s degree completion, strategy leads are working to increase the number of hosted bachelor’s degree options with our transfer partners. This will allow SLCC graduates to remain in the Salt Lake Valley to complete their four-year degree. SLCC is also exploring the possibility of developing applied baccalaureate degree programs.

Charge for 2022-23

The charge for the 2022-23 academic year will include the following elements:

  • Increase the number and quality of hosted bachelor’s degree programs. Expand the number of offerings from WSU and UVU, based upon student demand, market need partner capacity and institutional resources.
  • Evaluate baccalaureate options at partner institutions and recommend opportunities for SLCC to develop applied baccalaureate degree programs (e.g. technology management, etc.).
  • Create Transfer Steering Committee with regular reporting on opportunities (scoping), data and assessment of current partnerships, recommendations for leader/executive engagement with partner institutions, and marketing/outreach strategies.
  • With Institutional Effectiveness, develop and implement data sharing agreements with transfer partners.
  • Complete transition of events programming to Student Affairs.
  • Continue to work with Institutional Marketing to implement recruitment campaigns, assessment and strategies for future campaigns. This must be ongoing work in our highly competitive market.

Key Accomplishments from 2021-2022

Core lessons based upon work this academic year include:

  1. Recognition of the need to narrow the scope of the Transfer Center mission to more clearly define work and focus efforts to successfully grow 2+2 bachelor’s degree programs.
  2. The importance of internal partnerships is key to the success of Strategy 4. This has been key to the University Transfer Director’s growth strategy and work since her appointment in May 2021.
  3. There has been significant progress in partnering with Data Science and Analytics to clarify data needs and assessment, and to facilitate data sharing relationships between transfer institutions.
  4. Collaboration with Institutional Marketing to develop a communication strategy to publicize opportunities for students to complete a bachelor’s degree at SLCC from partner transfer institutions. The updated University Transfer Center webpage went live in July 2022. Community marketing campaign is scheduled for rollout in late autumn 2022.
