  • Wednesday, May 6th: 8am-9pm

Testing Services Changes

  • We have improved our security by using IP addresses to restrict Canvas exams instead of passwords. We will no longer accept passwords to access exams. Choosing the IP filter option is easy, and you will not need a copy of our IP address. To activate the IP filter for your exam, please go to your Canvas course page and Quizzes. Click on the quiz and then select 'Edit'. Under 'Quiz Restrictions', uncheck the access code box (if checked) and check the 'Filter IP Addresses' box and then click on the blue magnifying glass and select the 'Testing Center' IP filter. Make sure to save at the bottom of the page.
  • Face-to-face courses needing to utilize our services for paper-based exams will continue to be administered, except for final exams. Final exams must be held in the class meeting space.

Exam Submission Deadlines

Testing Services encourages all faculty to mark their calendars each semester to keep within the deadline to submit exams accordingly. We will do our best to accommodate all exam submissions, however, online classes will have priority as students do not have a meeting space for testing. During high volume weeks when we are expected to reach capacity you may be offered alternative dates or options within Testing Services capabilities. Testing Services needs adequate time to prepare, set up, and process final exam submissions. We are unable to process submissions after the deadline. The form to submit exam requests will be deactivated at end of day on day of deadline and will be reactivated the first day classes begin for the new semester. Please note, that any final exams a student cannot take in the classroom during the classroom final schedule becomes a makeup exam.

Exam Submission Information

Avoid processing delays!

When submitting exam requests, ensure all required exam information is included in the following order: course, section, and exam (e.g., MATH 1010.501 Exam 2).

Exam submissions missing required information will not be processed and may require resubmission.

Please note: Submitting exam requests without all required information may result in processing delays. Be sure to check your SLCC email inbox regularly, as this is the primary method we use to communicate regarding your exam submission(s).

  • Testing Services attempts to start Canvas-based exams as quickly as possible. Please help us by removing any Respondus Lockdown Browser settings, when utilizing our testing centers. When the Respondus Lockdown Browser setting is not removed from a Canvas exam, it results in our inability to administer exams for students.
  • Students having accommodations for additional time, other than their peers, must have their time limits on your Canvas exam set accordingly. Testing Services staff do not have access to adjust time limits on a Canvas exam for faculty.
  • Please ensure your Canvas exams are unlocked prior to testing. We are unable to make any adjustments, and locked exams significantly disrupt student appointments.

Process For Makeup & Accommodated Submissions

New makeup/accommodated submissions process instructions:

  1. When submitting make up or accommodated (ADS) exams, please ensure you include one of the following for each student:
    • The student's S number, or
    • The student's username from Canvas/Banner (used to assign the exam to the student's Bruinmail account)
It is critical that the student's username is entered accurately. If the information is incorrect, students will be unable to schedule an appointment, and exam processing will be delayed until correct details are provided.
Please do not include the student's personal email address. The system may contain similar names, so be sure the Bruinmail/username you provide belongs to your student.

Student Scheduling Instructions

You will receive notification once your submission request has been processed which means your students can begin scheduling for their exam. Please review your submission in RegisterBlast to ensure accuracy. This includes any verbiage in exam files and instructions.

Students should be making appointments via ‘My Exams’ in RegisterBlast for all exams. Please encourage your students to choose ‘My Exams’ rather than the drop-down menus for scheduling. Instructions for scheduling appointments are included in our email notifications to you after exam submissions are processed. Instructions are also on our website for reference. The student will only see any exams assigned to their Bruinmail. Reminder: if your entire class is testing with Testing Services, you do not need to submit a separate submission for accommodated students. Only submit a separate accommodated submission if your student misses a test or if you are not utilizing Testing Services for all your exams.

Testing Services administers exams at four locations: Herriman, Jordan, Redwood, and South City. All students must make an appointment for each exam taken at Testing Services and are responsible to check they are selecting the correct testing site to avoid going to the wrong testing center for an exam. Staff are unable to schedule appointments on behalf of students. Staff are happy to assist students in navigating our scheduling system as needed for those new to our testing centers or are having technical issues. Appointments are considered no show/canceled after 20 minutes of a student not being present for their appointment. Students will be directed to reschedule their appointment when it is missed. Appointments are subject to availability. Once seats are full, students will not be able to schedule appointments.
