Concurrent Enrollment

CE Instructor Applications

There are two different CE Instructor Applications:

  • New applications are for instructors who are new to SLCC CE or are applying to teach a new course
  • Ongoing applications are used for annual instructor renewals

Instructor qualifications

Selection criteria for high school teachers teaching concurrent enrollment are the same as criteria applied to other adjunct faculty in the various academic departments at Salt Lake Community College. CE instructor qualifications vary from course to course. For accreditation and articulation purposes SLCC concurrent enrollment cannot make exceptions to hiring requirements set by SLCC academic departments. Specific teacher qualification requirements can be found on the Course Offerings/Teacher Requirements page for each course.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Instructor Applications are managed by each high school and are processed through MyCE

  • New applications must be submitted by the high school CE coordinator (they have MyCE access) and must include:
      1. Cover Letter
      2. Resume
      3. Transcripts
      Additional required documents may include:
      • ePortfolio - Required if application is for any ART course
      • Upper level mathematics credential issued by State Board of Education
      • Technical Education Certificate or Industry Certification
      • Student performance on qualifying test scores or AP exams
      • Continuing Education in Master's Degree or Higher
  • Ongoing applications can be submitted by either the coordinator or the instructor (they will get MyCE access if approved)

The application review process timeline varies, based on the application type:

  • New applications will require the review of the principal, district CE director, the SLCC academic department, and the dean. The application process may also include an interview with the academic department, teaching demo, exam, or other requirements set by the SLCC academic department for adjunct faculty.
  • Ongoing applications require the high school and district review only, unless there are changes to course instructor qualifications and the SLCC academic department request a review.

CE coordinators can track the progress of an application in MyCE.

DEADLINES

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.  These semester deadlines are in place to provide adequate time for application review, onboarding, and training:

  • Fall Semester - March 31st
  • Spring Semester - November 1st
