In alignment with the Stop Campus Hazing Act and SLCC’s commitment to accountability and student well-being, this page includes a transparency report with information about reported and confirmed hazing incidents involving recognized student organizations. By sharing this information, we promote awareness, prevention, and a culture of respect where every Bruin belongs.

Hazing Transparency Report

As required by the Stop Campus Hazing Act, SLCC publishes a report of hazing incidents involving recognized student organizations twice each year. This report is updated every six months following a review of reported incidents.

SLCC publishes annual statistics on reported hazing incidents in its Annual Security Report, along with other information about campus safety and security.

HAZING IS A VIOLATION OF SLCC POLICY

Salt Lake Community College's Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities prohibits hazing as a condition of association with a group or organization, regardless of whether a person consents to the conduct. The Code sets the expectations that apply to students and student organizations and provides the process for addressing reported violations.

HAZING IS A VOLATION OF UTAH LAW

Hazing can also have consequences beyond the College's conduct process. Utah Code Ann. § 76-5-107.5 makes certain hazing conduct a crime when it occurs in connection with a person's initiation, admission, affiliation, office, or continued membership in an organization. Violations can carry criminal penalties ranging from a misdemeanor to a felony.
