Annie grew up in Virginia but has lived in nine states and one other country (Turkey) before settling in Utah.  She has two young daughters and a husband who also works at SLCC.

Ryan received his Doctoral Degree in Curriculum & Instruction (Educational Technology) from the University of Utah in 2008, his Master’s in Education from Utah State University (Secondary Gifted & Talented) in 2001, and his Bachelors (Anthropology/Geography) from the University of Utah in 1994. Ryan taught High School Social Studies for 18 years, mostly working with juniors and seniors, and he has been involved in the educational field for over 27 years.

Ryan worked at the University of Phoenix for 14 years and recently retired. He has worked at Salt Lake Community College since 2012 as an adjunct instructor in the Education Department teaching EDU1010, EDU2140, EDU1000, and EDU2110. He has also taught Educational Psychology, Technology in the Classroom, and Research Methods at the University of Utah and was a Clinical Supervisor with Western Governor’s University for several years.

Ryan was born and raised in Utah and has always had a passion for the outdoors. He loves to garden, ski, and camp (especially with his Golden Retriever, Bodhi). Ryan happily lives alone with his dog and has two daughters who are just finishing up high school. He loves to go to their football games to watch both of them varsity cheerlead. On the side, Ryan has been a manager at The Home Depot since 2014, utilizing the same classroom teaching skills with the customers.

Lois Oestreich

Lois Oestreich

Education Adjunct Faculty

Originally from Pacific Northwest, Lois served as both an adjunct and full-time faculty member of SLCC’s Education Program for over 20 years. She retired Professor Emeritus but still tackles an online class now and then. As a fulltime faculty member, she was instrumental in co-creating many of the current education courses.

A former elementary school teacher and administrator, Lois has an extensive background in teaching and learning. With special education as the driving force, she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with an emphasis in learning theory and teacher licensure at Southern Oregon University. Even though her original teaching license was in elementary education, she promoted inclusive classrooms, a passion that allowed her to work with exceptional learners in a general classroom setting.

Lois completed an MEd in Curriculum Development at Westminster College with a focus on the many diverse facets in K-6 curriculum. This is where her dedication to multicultural education developed. Finally, she holds an EdS in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and was awarded a principal licensure from the University of Northern Colorado.

On a personal note, Lois is a wife, mother, and grandmother (the grandkids call her Nana). She and her husband grew up together and have been married for over 40 years. They have two grown daughters and six grandchildren. Recently, Lois and her husband moved to their home in Depoe Bay, Oregon to retire near family.
