2025 President's Art Show
SLCC presents President's Art Show, our annual, juried exhibition that awards $5,000 in prize money, and is open to all Utah artists—amateur or professional.

Shalee Cooper
Shalee Cooper is a multidisciplinary artist inspired by minimalism. Her expansive career in curation has influenced her often interactive and installation-like work, inviting the viewer to participate in how the work is displayed. Having lived in London, Paris, and Amsterdam, she currently resides with her husband, Tyler Bloomquist, in SLC, UT, and is the Director and Curator at Modern West.
Lizzy Karp
Lizzy Karp is a storyteller, strategist, and arts advocate whose work bridges creativity and community impact. As Grants Manager at The Kahlert Foundation, she helps advance philanthropic investments in education, healthcare, human services, veterans, and more special projects across Utah. With a background in music history and cultural programming, Lizzy brings an artist’s eye to philanthropy, supporting initiatives that nurture connection, imagination, and belonging. Her work reflects a deep belief that creativity is essential to thriving communities. She is a proud resident of the Ballpark neighborhood, just down the street.
Luis Novoa
Luis Novoa is Executive Director at Artes de México en Utah, a multidisciplinary artist and muralist. A graduate of the University of Utah with a degree in Sociology and Multidisciplinary Design. Luis’s creative journey has been profoundly influenced by the bold narratives of Mexican muralism, Chicano art, and street art. As a first-generation Mexican-American, he views public art as a powerful tool for driving change, inspiring pride, and fostering meaningful dialogue in our communities. Over the past five years, Luis has worked as a muralist with the Roots Art Kollective, collaborating on impactful projects, including the Utah Museum of Fine Arts’ first mural exhibition: 2020: From Here On Out. His dedication to connecting art, history, and community continues as a committee member for the transformation of the Mesoamerican exhibit at UMFA, which is set to open in November 2025.
Dr. Greg Peterson
Dr. Greg Peterson is the ninth president of Salt Lake Community College, and he began leading Utah's largest two-year higher education institution on July 1, 2024. Throughout Dr. Peterson's tenure in higher education, he has demonstrated his commitment to the community college mission — aspiring to provide all students with access to and success in higher education and in life.
Geoff Wichert
Geoff Wichert has been writing about art for publication since 1975. He started with a magazine in Portland, living in Southern California at the time, then Missouri, New York, Seattle, Japan, England, New York, Germany (two magazines), Italy, and Australia. He was “house mouse” for Bullseye Glass and wrote about artists and their shows up and down the West Coast. He is currently a contributing editor at Artists of Utah Magazine, 15 Bytes.
