The question, “what does it mean to be human?” cuts across many disciplines. As we explore the human condition through history, international studies, languages, literature, philosophy and religion, we learn to ask our own big questions and create a clearer view of the future.
Do you approach complex information creatively, critically and logically? Do you think about the present by looking for clues in the past? Are you drawn to nuanced depictions of the human experience? If so, you’re likely to thrive in the Humanities.
Humanities students develop competitive skills in self-reflection, writing and critical reading, and become conversant in a diverse range of fields. The first step to lifelong career mobility and personal enrichment is a degree in the Humanities from SLCC.
Is Your Passion In SBSEHS?
When we take time to understand our past and present — through social work, education, criminal justice, political science, anthropology, economics and psychology — we open doors to the future. SBSEHS programs examine how individuals and groups learn, develop, interact, make decisions and heal.
Think about your favorite film. Is it driven by complex characters? Do you notice patterns and clues in their actions?
Do you enjoy discussing the nuances of relationships or anticipating the outcomes of conflicts? What about giving directions to travelers or teaching coworkers new skills? If so, your empathy and aptitude for analysis will give you an edge in our programs.
