Degrees & Programs
Fashion Design & Merchandising: Fashion Merchandising Emphasis: AAS (CTE)
Fashion Merchandisers handle sales, trend forecasting, product development, and the promotion of fashion, often moving between multiple roles or specializing in one area, and they rely on strong forecasting, computer, analytical, and communication skills to succeed. Students pursuing the AAS in Fashion Merchandising gain skills in apparel buying, styling, fashion show production, and trend analysis, and they prepare for entry-level roles such as fashion buyer, visual display artist, or apparel product developer, with opportunities to complete internships with merchants, product developers, and retailers at both store and corporate levels.
Fashion Design & Merchandising: Fashion Design Emphasis: AAS (CTE)
Fashion Designers take part in every stage of the design process, using creativity to develop ideas from initial sketches to samples and final garments, and this program helps students build a personal aesthetic through hands-on learning while gaining the technical skills needed to turn two-dimensional drawings into three-dimensional pieces. Students learn core skills such as patternmaking, draping, and sample construction, and those pursuing the AAS in Fashion Design are prepared for entry-level roles in fields such as fashion design, costume design, and bridal wear design.
Fashion Design & Merchandising: Technical Apparel Emphasis: AAS (CTE)
Professionals in Technical Apparel contribute to nearly every stage of product development, including specifications, grading, patternmaking, sample creation, fit, and production, and they work closely with designers, manufacturers, and merchandisers to ensure high-quality results, requiring both a sharp eye for fashion and strong patternmaking skills. Students pursuing the AAS in Technical Apparel gain hands-on training in pattern drafting, draping, apparel construction, and creating tech packs, while also learning about sustainability and social responsibility, preparing them for entry-level roles such as technical designer, sample maker, and pattern technician.
