Participants
Who can participate?
SKIP is a free physical activity and play program designed for children with disabilities in 4th-6th grade.
Participants, called Cubs, are paired one-on-one with an SLCC student volunteer, called a Ranger, for the duration of the SKIP season.
SKIP welcomes children with a wide range of abilities and support needs. Families provide information during registration about their child's interests, preferences, communication, mobility, and other support needs so we can prepare our volunteers and create a positive experience for each Cub.
What to Expect
Each SKIP session includes a variety of opportunities for movement, play, creativity, and social interaction. Activities may include:
- Cooperative Group Games
- Sports and Ball Skills
- Obstacle Courses and Scooter Activities
- Free Play
- Rhythm and Dance
- Arts and Crafts
Activities are designed to be flexible and can be modified based on each Cub’s interests, abilities, and support needs.
Fall 2026 SKIP
SKIP will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the SLCC Taylorsville Campus (4600 S Redwood Road).
Fall 2026 Dates:
- October 21
- October 28
- November 4
- November 11
- November 18
- December 2
- December 9
We encourage families to attend as consistently as possible because Cubs benefit from a predictable routine and the opportunity to work with the same Ranger each week.
Parents and guardians are welcome to stay and watch SKIP, but they are not required to remain during the session.
Registration
Space in SKIP is limited. Families must complete the participant registration form before attending.
The registration form asks about your child’s interests, activity preferences, medical and disability-related support needs, and anything else that may help us provide a safe and enjoyable SKIP experience.
