Transferable Degrees

Salt Lake Community College offers transferable degrees that allow you to continue to pursue a bachelor's degree:

  • AA - Associate of Arts: Two-year transfer degree with general education and pre-major coursework. (Foreign language component included).
  • AS - Associate of Science: Two-year transfer degree with general education and pre-major coursework. (No foreign language component).
  • APE - Associate of Pre-Engineering: Two-year transfer degree with general education and pre-major coursework.
  • APS - Associates of Pre-Science: Three-year transfer degree with general education and pre-major coursework.
  • General Education Academic Certificate: provides verification to Utah's public institutions and Westminster University that the student completed the lower division general education requirements of an Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Arts (AA) degree.

Career Ready Degrees

  • AAS - Associate of Applied Science: Two-year degree leading to employment or continued study.
  • Technical Certificates: programs that meet a documented need of Utah employers within the service region and fully prepare a student for related employment in the occupational field. They may be entry level or may require prerequisites of related industry experience or previous coursework or degree attainment.

Nursing is an example of an AAS degree that has additional courses added to assist with articulation and transfer. AAS degrees do not include all general education requirements needed for the degrees to be transferable.
