Concurrent Enrollment

Supporting Your CE Instructors

Course instructor minimum requirements are listed here: CE Course Offerings/Instructor Requirements

New instructor applications are submitted by CE Coordinators through the MyCE portal.

Applications must include:

  1. Cover Letter
  2. Resume
  3. Transcripts
Additional required documents may include:
  • ePortfolio - Required if application is for any ART course
  • Upper level mathematics credential issued by State Board of Education
  • Technical Education Certificate or Industry Certification
  • Student performance on qualifying test scores or AP exams
  • Continuing Education in Master's Degree or Higher

Uploaded application documents are attached to an instructor's record and carry through to additional applications for that instructor.

Once an application has been screened, an approval or denial letter will be uploaded to MyCE and sent to the applicant.

Applications must be resubmitted annually.

For video instructions on this process, please see the MyCE Tutorials for CE Coordinators.

Deadlines

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.  These semester deadlines are in place to provide adequate time for application review, onboarding, and training:

  • Fall Semester - March 31st
  • Spring Semester - November 1st

Monitoring Instructor Responsibilities

Instructors also have certain requirements such as completing trainings, uploading their syllabi, and signing their annual agreement. If an instructor fails to do this after the first reminder, our office will start including the coordinator on the reminders and then the principal on the final reminder. If it is still not done, the instructor will be put on probation until it is completed. Classes will not be scheduled for the following year if an instructor has not resolved this by the end of the year.

Substitutes & Student Teachers

Student teachers are NOT allowed to teach concurrent enrollment classes because they have not been approved by the SLCC academic department.

If an instructor will be absent from class for more than two weeks the high school will need to work with the SLCC CE Department to find a qualified substitute who meets SLCC instructor qualification requirements. The substitute must be vetted by SLCC through the instructor application process in order for the class to continue to carry. If a qualified substitute is not found, the class will need to be cancelled.
