How to Apply

How to petition for Credit for Prior Learning

Know the course prefix and number of the course you want credit for, and have your evidence of learning ready to go. If you’re wondering what you need to submit, refer to the table below.

Use this form to send in your documentation of your learning, and let us know what course you're wanting your learning evaluated for.

Your petition will be evaluated by the appropriate department, and a decision will be made. You’ll get an email from Etrieve when a decision has been made. If your petition was approved, it will show on your transcript within 2-4 weeks, depending on the point in the semester.

If you believe you qualify for credit, but don’t know what to submit or where to start, email cpl@slcc.edu for guidance. We’re here to help!

How to appeal

If you believe the decision was incorrect, you can appeal. Appeals will go to the dean of that department, and their decision will be final.

Email cpl@slcc.edu to start your appeal. You can provide a written statement to support your appeal, and/or meet with the dean in person, schedule dependent. The CPL office will forward your written statement, if you make one, along with your original petition and the department’s response, up to the Dean for evaluation.

The CPL office is here to help you through the process, don’t hesitate to reach out!
