To enroll in ENGL 1010: Introduction to College Writing, the required General Education Core Skills 1000-level Written Communication (WC) course, students must first complete a placement process to determine the appropriate course.

If you have English and Reading ACT or SAT scores, submit them to SLCC via the ACT or SAT sites. If not, you will complete a process through SLCC Testing Services. Click on this link for information.

Students may be placed into:

An ESL course
ENGL 0900: Integrated Reading & Writing I
ENGL 0990: Integrated Reading & Writing II
ENGL 1010: Introduction to College Writing (WC)

If you completed ENGL 1010 (or its equivalent) through concurrent enrollment or at another college/university, you may be able to enroll in a 2000-level Written Communication course to complete the General Education WC Core Skills requirement. Contact your academic advisor for guidance.
