Please join us for Liminal, a solo exhibition by Colombian American artist Zahir, known for his conceptual photography featuring landscapes, portraits, travels, and love for analog processes. In addition to visual art, Zahir composes orchestral music that often conveys emotion through melodic storytelling and communicates concepts to complement the themes of his photographs. The images he creates can be enjoyed without context or explanation, but he always ensures that viewers experience exciting discoveries upon diving deeper into the creation and intentions of his photos.

The opening reception is February 29 from 6 - 8 pm in the Edna Runswick Taylor Foyer at the Center for Media Arts, South City Campus.

Artist Statement:
Liminal spaces are empty or abandoned places that appear eerie, forlorn, and often surreal. Zahir’s Liminal is a collection of photographic prints that explore the disorientating experience of inhabiting a liminal space. Some photographs are literal representations while others are of metaphoric significance. The body of work culminates in a self-portrait of the artist taken among the debris of a demolished building that served as both his childhood amusement park and later his high school.
