The Salt Lake Community College Lowrider Studies Initiative, a project of the Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) program at Salt Lake Community College, grounded in Chicano/a/x Studies, is a scholarly and community engaged learning effort that promotes, educates, studies, researches, and learns about the lowrider culture globally. This is the first academic initiative at a college or university internationally that focuses on lowrider studies with hosting the Lowrider Studies Journal, Lowrider Studies Book Series with Peter Lang Publishing, Lowrider Photography Exhibit, Annual International Lowrider Studies Conference, Annual Hop Into College event, and Annual Utah Winter Lowrider Bicycle Show.
