SLCC Admissions
Documents Required for Application
- SLCC International Admissions policy requires official proof demonstrating completion of secondary education equivalent to a U.S. academic high school diploma. English translations may be required.
- All international students must have a valid passport. If your passport is expiring within six months, you should apply to renew it as soon as possible. Provide SLCC with a copy of the main passport page including:
- Name.
- Photo.
- Passport expiration date.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) requires Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) to verify that an international student submits evidence of financial ability for the length of time necessary to pursue an education in the United States. A realistic financial plan is required for the issuance of the USCIS Form I-20. Official financial documents from the student or the student’s sponsor are used to demonstrate financial ability.
- Submit an official bank statement, from the bank account holder, verifying the amount of at least $23,432 in liquid assets.
- For sponsors, a signed Financial Statement of support is also required: Financial Statement Form (PDF).
- For students coming with dependents, an additional $2,000 for the first dependent is required, $1,000 per each additional dependent.

Tuition & Fees
International students are non-residents and pay non-resident tuition, though non-residents are able to pay the resident rate during summer semester. International students also pay a $40 fee each semester.
Tuition is figured per credit hour, with the average course being 3 credits and a full-time semester typically comprising 12-18 credit hours.

Entry-level employment in your desired field. Best for students seeking employment upon graduation. You can probably still transfer to a four-year school with this degree, but it is not designed for direct transfer. |

High-wage employment in a specialized field here in Utah. Best for students seeking employment upon completion. |
| CP – Certificate of Proficiency |
Improve or refine skills in a specific area, often for a raise or promotion. Best for students already working in their desired field or in one to which it relates closely. Some certificates are stackable. |

Transferring
If you have credits that you would like to be transferred to SLCC, your credits must be evaluated before they can be reviewed by SLCC to determine eligibility. Contact an academic credit evaluation company in the U.S. to have your foreign credits evaluated. You may choose whichever company you would like, but be sure to request a comprehensive report. A list of transcript evaluation companies can be found here.
Many students attend SLCC with the intent to transfer to a 4-year college or university, including the internationally nationally renowned University of Utah. The core classes you will take at SLCC are transferrable to other colleges and universities across the United States. SLCC’s Transfer Center is dedicated to making your transition to a 4-year school smooth and successful.

SLCC Student Life
SLCC is home to nationally ranked athletics teams, an active professional theatre company, a competitive fashion institute, and a stunning art gallery. Each year, SLCC becomes a venue for the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. If you love making music, or sculpture, or poetry, or simply experiencing them, SLCC is the school for you.
Housing
Salt Lake Community College is a commuter campus and does not have on-campus housing. Students moving to Salt Lake City should make advanced arrangements for housing. List of Apartments in the Area.
Things to Do
Salt Lake City is a thriving arts town, with easy access to music, theatre, and dance performances as well as the visual arts. SLCC’s campuses are all within minutes of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Hiking, biking, running, climbing, fishing, hunting—you can do it all near SLCC because Utah is the epitome of the great outdoors.

Health & Wellness
It is a requirement that students receiving the USCIS form I-20 from SLCC are automatically enrolled in the health insurance plan when they register for classes. The health insurance plan for SLCC F-1 international students is provided by Ascension Benefits & Insurance Solutions, Inc. The plan summary for Ascension coverage can be found at GeoBlue. Coverage begins the day before orientation. Health insurance fees are due the Friday before classes begin and will be assessed with tuition as follows:
- Fall 2019: $ 606.25
- Spring 2020: $ 485.00
- Summer 2020: $ 363.75
Health Requirements
Vaccinations And Tuberculosis Testing
All students are required to provide proof of vaccination for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and be tested for Tuberculosis (TB) before starting classes at SLCC.
- Fill out the TB Screening and MMR form.
- Fill out the Patient Information form.
- Bring the completed forms to SLCC’s Center for Health and Counseling.
- The Health and Counseling staff will test you for TB.
- Bring a copy of your insurance card from Ascension.
