STEMinism is for Everyone

STEM + Feminism = STEMinism

STEMinist
noun

  1. A feminist who supports women in science, technology, engineering, and math.
  2. Someone who believes in gender equity in science, technology, engineering, and math.

STEMinism is an important development for the world of STEM because it is the practice of utilizing an appreciative lens to engage with science, technology, engineering, and math fields. In research, this looks like community-based research, where citizens are invited to participate and guide scientific research to unpack social issues. Feminism in STEM means supporting gender equity in both STEM practitioners/researchers and the research stakeholders.
